Alicia Journey is an attorney who is a member of both the California State Bar and the United States Supreme Court Bar. She graduated from the prestigious Pepperdine School of Law in 2009 with her Juris Doctorate. In the same year, she received a degree in Dispute Resolution from the world-renowned Strauss Institute in Dispute Resolution.
During law school, she worked at the U.S. Attorney’s Office in their Criminal Division focusing on sexual crimes again children. She was a prosecutor for the Riverside District Attorney’s office specializing in Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, Child Abuse and Elder Abuse and tried 34 trials from misdemeanors to three- strike prison cases and attempt murders. She spent time training law enforcement on investigating these crimes.
After leaving the District Attorney’s office she opened her own law practice in Santa Barbara, California where she lives with her two beautiful children. Alicia is a survivor herself of intimate partner abuse and sexual assault. Due to her experiences both personally and professionally she started a non-profit for this demographic called Beyond the Bruises. This foundation’s mission is to create a one-stop shop for resources and assigns a team of professionals that will walk alongside survivors as they go through the process of healing to becoming self- empowered individuals who understand and operate in life with the understanding that what happened to them does not define them. She is dedicated to equality and social justice.
